My inspiration were young artists, 2nd generation immigrants, who wish to be known as a fresh, strong, relevant voice, contributing to modern society with their art, showing the beauty of their culture, using pleasant colors and colorful themes.
I created the fabric using a linoleum stencil from which I made a screen printing and hand printed repeatedly the fabrics. The shirt’s textile is a modern interpretation of Beta Israel’s ancient tradition of weaving cotton fabrics.
